In South Africa, The PepsiCo Foundation recently partnered with the Water Research Commission and two other organisations to provide a sanitation solution to meet the needs of a rural community.

Through this project, 120 households in a village called Ga-Moela in the Limpopo Province have each been provided with a low-pour flush toilet, which will benefit around 700 people in the area. Prior to the rollout of the project, households were using locally built latrines, with some households having no access to any form of sanitation.

This initiative contributes to PepsiCo’s global goal to provide access to safe water for 100 million people by 2030.

Not only has this project brought dignity to the community but has also provided job opportunities and skills for some community members who were recruited and trained on how to install and maintain the toilets.
